AutoX

Welcome to the 2024 Parade AutoX

You are in for a special treat! The 2024 Parade AutoX will be at the beautiful and unique Barber Motorsport Park AutoX proving ground facility. This includes using the banked Nurbergring-esk turn, landscaped road course sections, and the stunning air-conditioned pavilion that overlooks the whole course.

Join the adrenalin filled fun on an easy-to-follow course designed with a variety of fast, flowing, and challenging turns (see course map below). Virtual “Michelin Chalk Talks” will be held via Zoom in May and June to guide you through event specifics and give tips to help you drive your best. A “Michelin Chalk Talk Live” session will be held Tuesday at Parade to answer any remaining questions.

Schedule
Tuesday:

10:00am-5:00pm: Course open for walking (at Barber Motorsport Park AutoX Proving Grounds, Leeds AL, just 20 minutes from Birmingham).

11:00am, 12:00pm, and 1:00pm: Expert lead guided course walks.
4:00-5:00pm: Michelin Chalk Talk – Live at Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex.
Wednesday: All “Stock” classed cars run. See Daily Schedule below.
Thursday: All “Production”, “Improved”, and “Modified” classed cars run. See Daily Schedule below.

Daily Run Schedule
7:00-8:00am: Arrive, park in Grid for Tech, then course open to walk.

8:15am-8:45am: Mandatory Driver’s Meeting in Barber Pavilion.
9:00am: AutoX runs start.
1:00pm: Estimated finish time for all drivers.
1:30pm: Start of special AutoX events (to be announced).

IMPORTANT: Each driver must also sign up to “work” in the Volunteering section of the Phase 2 Registration system for the same day they drive. As is typical at AutoX events, everyone will drive then work or work then drive. Work sessions are only about 90 minutes long but will count for your Parade Worker Party admission. AutoX jobs are some of the best “work” assignments at Parade, allowing you to get close to the action and study how fellow drivers take their lines. In addition to your free worker T-Shirt size, please indicate if you plan on attending the Parade Worker Party on Saturday, your AutoX work-station preference (check that you meet the criteria for each), or if you need a seated assignment (further away from the course).

Additional AutoX Workers needed: Please also volunteer for these additional AutoX Worker positions if you can without conflicting with your driving day/time. Sign-up is also done on the Volunteer Section of Phase 2 Registration: Tuesday 8-11am course set-up (this helps you learn the course); Wed & Thurs 6:30-9am AutoX Entry Gate (an easy seated position greeting all drivers. Note that you cannot AutoX the same day), Thursday 1-4pm AutoX Special Event (flag or score as top AutoX drivers compete in a to be announced event).

Barber facilities are truly park-like and will make attending this event picturesque and beautiful. Damage to their facilities, pavement, grass, sprinkler heads, etc., is taken seriously and will be the sole responsibility of the person causing the damage, so please park and drive respectfully going to and while at the AutoX

Tech Inspection will be performed each morning in the grid area. No Tech form is needed; however, each driver is responsible to ensure their car meets all the AutoX Minimum Standard Tech requirements. See the 2024 Parade Competition Rules (PCR’s) Section A-5 “Driver Safety” (page 28), including Section A.5.1.5 “Safety Inspection” Parade Competition Rules (PCR’s)

NEW for 2024 - All STOCK Car Class TIRES must conform to the updated 2024 PCR tire rules found in Section A-2.5.2.1. “Tires”: “N-Spec” tires, or OEM sizes that have a 300 Treadwear rating or higher.
