Discover the beauty of the highest point in Alabama on an island in the sky! This scenic and twisty mountain drive follows a favorite Porsche route to Cheaha State Park, which is located on the southernmost tip of the Appalachian Mountain chain. Established in 1933, Cheaha State Park is Alabama's oldest continuously operated state park, covering nearly 3000 acres atop Cheaha Mountain. With an elevation of 2407 feet, Cheaha Mountain is Alabama's highest natural point. A nature lover’s dream, the park is considered by many to be one of the most unique parks in the nation, with 2799 acres of granite boulders and wind-warped ancient trees and surrounded by 392,567 acres of the Talladega National Forest, including 7245 acres of Cheaha Wilderness.
After spending time admiring the beautiful scenery and points of interest at the state park, the tour will head down the mountain to Anniston, AL, where you will enjoy an elegant lunch at Classic on Noble, “east Alabama’s premiere fine dining restaurant.” Located in the beautiful 1894 Levy and Clark building in historic downtown Anniston, Classic has planned a Southern buffet created especially for our group.
